Andrew Tate, a controversial influencer known for his sexist and misogynistic views, has suggested that he may have been poisoned after posting footage of his sudden health deterioration on Twitter.
Tate is currently under house arrest in Romania on suspicion of organised crime and human trafficking, which he denies.
His period of house arrest has been extended until at least 29 May, and he has previously claimed that ‘the matrix’ is out to get him.
On 27 April, Tate tweeted about an adverse reaction, stating that his “Face [was] swollen. Blood pressure [was] through the roof. Skins on fire. Hard to breathe. Some sort of severe reaction or poison. Only had coffee and water so far today. All appeared in the last 5mins,” accompanied by a picture and video of himself.
Tate later shared a video of what appeared to be a red rash across parts of his body and tweeted that he was “gathering chi.”
Tate’s team subsequently claimed that he was not allergic to anything and that he had only consumed coffee and water that day.
They suggested that Tate may have been the victim of an insect bite or that his water had been tampered with.
Tate reportedly refused medical attention, opting instead to focus on tea and breathing.
Tate has previously made claims about the “matrix” being out to get him, stating that he had been “attacked” while in jail and had been rushed to hospital.
He has also claimed that he feared he might be shot after leaving prison, saying that “stage 3 approaches.”
Tate has been under investigation for possible human trafficking since April 2022. Following his arrest, Romania’s Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) claimed that victims had been lured before facing “physical violence and mental coercion” and forced to “perform pornographic demonstrations.” Tate is also facing a lawsuit from three women who allege that he raped and abused them while they worked as webcam models for him in 2013.
Despite his legal troubles, Tate has maintained that “the fire of truth will eventually destroy all lies.” However, many have criticized his behavior and views, with some accusing him of promoting dangerous and harmful attitudes towards women.
