Kim Zolciak-Biermann, a former star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has filed for divorce from her husband, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, citing the irretrievable breakdown of their marriage, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.
The couple was married for 11 years and has four children together. Zolciak is seeking primary physical custody of the children and joint legal custody, as well as spousal support and the restoration of her maiden name.
The couple’s financial troubles may have contributed to the divorce. Zolciak and Biermann owe $1.1 million in unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties to the IRS from 2013, 2017, and 2018.
Additionally, they owe the state of Georgia $15,000 for unpaid taxes from 2018. In February, their country club mansion in Alpharetta, Georgia, which was prominently featured on their reality show, went into foreclosure.
Zolciak and Biermann met at a charity event in May 2010 when he was playing for the Atlanta Falcons. Their relationship was featured on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and they married on Nov. 11, 2011, at their former estate in Roswell, Georgia.
Biermann also adopted Zolciak’s daughters, Brielle and Ariana, who took his last name.
This is the second divorce for Zolciak, who was previously married to Daniel Toce from 2001 to 2003. It is the first divorce for Biermann.
