The cause of Ray Liotta’s death has finally been disclosed nearly a year after his tragic passing.

According to TMZ, the Goodfellas actor passed away due to “respiratory insufficiency, pulmonary edema, and acute heart failure.”

Ray Liotta was a renowned actor who left a huge impact on the film industry. He passed away at the age of 67 on May 26, 2022, while filming a movie in the Dominican Republic.

Many people who knew him or worked with him expressed their shock and sadness over his untimely death. One of them is his Goodfellas director, Martin Scorsese, who said, “I’m absolutely shocked and devastated by the sudden, unexpected death of Ray Liotta. He was so uniquely gifted, so adventurous, so courageous as an actor.”

Scorsese also talked about Liotta’s performance in Goodfellas, where he played the complex character of Henry Hill. He stated, “Playing Henry Hill in Goodfellas was a tall order, because the character had so many different facets, so many complicated layers, and Ray was in almost every scene of a long, tough shoot. He absolutely amazed me, and I’ll always be proud of the work we did together on that picture.”

Liotta’s sudden death was a huge loss to the film industry, and his posthumous appearances in two movies, Fool’s Paradise and The Substance, will remind us of his talent and impact.
