Reports have revealed that authorities received a distressing call stating that the late actor was found in his hot tub and was not breathing. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at 4:07 p.m., followed by the Los Angeles Police Department at 4:10 p.m.
While the caller’s identity has not been disclosed by official sources, TMZ reported that it was Perry’s assistant who made the call after the actor had requested him to run an errand. Perry was allegedly found submerged in the hot tub.
An official statement from the LAFD revealed, “An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival… The patient was found by a bystander who had re-positioned the victim where the head was out of water.” Firefighters on the scene extracted the victim from the hot tub and conducted an initial medical evaluation, confirming Perry’s unfortunate passing.
Furthermore, Perry’s parents, Suzanne and John Bennett Perry, along with stepfather Keith Morrison, a well-known figure from “Dateline,” were seen visibly distressed outside the home. Later that night, Perry’s body was removed from the residence.
While an initial autopsy has been performed, the coroner has ordered additional tests, including toxicology, with results anticipated to take months. The cause of death has been marked as “deferred.”
LAPD Capt. Scot Williams from the Robbery Homicide Division mentioned that the specific cause of death may take some time to determine. However, there is currently no suspicion of foul play.
Reports have indicated the recovery of prescription medications at the scene, which will be part of the investigation, a standard procedure in such cases.
