And it’s all for a pretty crazy reason.
To get things up to speed, there’s been a lot of drama over the last few days surrounding Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez, with fans accusing The Kardashians star, 25, of bullying.
It all started when the ex-Disney star posted about her brown lamination gown wrong.
Not long after this was shared, Kylie then posted two stories that started all the speculation. – One with text over her eyebrows that read ”Was this an accident???” and another of her on FaceTime to friend Hailey Bieber, where they both have the camera zoomed in on each other’s brows.
To make the situation even more complicated, Hailey Bieber is married to singer Justin Bieber, who Gomez so famously dated on and off for 8 years, and has continuously been associated with.
Many fans since labelled Kylie and Bieber the ‘mean girls’ of social media, and are convinced they’re mocking Selena. – Given their history too, they think Hailey has motive.
After so much backlash and speculation surrounding her comment, Jenner was forced to speak out on the situation.
She added: “No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.”
Whilst they’ve tried to reinforce the fact that there’s no bad blood between them, fans still aren’t satisfied, and think there’s something much deeper behind all of this.
And like with any feud, people have taken sides; Most people are on Selena’s.
As a result of this, Kylie’s Instagram following has taken a pretty huge hit.
Last week, stats showed that Kylie dropped 124,711 followers from Wednesday (February 22), but this figure has only descended further, with the latest Social Blade data indicating that she’s now lost nearly 750,000 followers since the same date.
No need to panic, Jenner still has a whopping 379 million people following her account, but it did lead to her losing her position as most followed woman on Instagram. And you’ll never guess who’s taken the title, Selena Gomez.
The actress has gained more than 7.4 million new followers since the drama, taking her count from more than 380 million to 388 million.
Despite this, the singer is taking a step back from it all, and explained: “I’m going to be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly.”
“I’m 30 and am too old for this. But I love you so much and I’ll see you guys sooner than later.
“I’m just gonna take a break from everything.”
Gomez opened up on her troubled relationship with social media in an interview with Vanity Fair earlier this month, and explained why she finds it such a toxic place.
She said: “People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed.
“They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying.
“I constantly had anxiety. I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.”
