Jenna Ortega, 23, has addressed rumours linking her romantically to actor Johnny Depp.
The speculation circulated widely online and placed the rising star at the centre of a celebrity gossip storm.
Ortega is known for roles in You and a brief appearance in Iron Man 3. The rumours claimed she was involved with Depp, who is 62. Ortega has now publicly denied the claims.
Ortega’s career has continued to gain momentum in recent years. Her role as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday brought her global recognition.
With increased visibility has come heightened scrutiny. As often happens with young actors, attention has extended beyond her professional work.

The dating rumours emerged despite no public connection between the two performers.
The speculation began after a post from celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi. The account suggested a possible collaboration between Ortega and Depp on Beetlejuice 2.
The sequel is being directed by Tim Burton and has generated strong interest online.
Fans and media quickly began speculating about a relationship. The rumours spread rapidly across social platforms and entertainment sites.
Ortega and Depp issue firm denials
Ortega responded directly to the claims through her Instagram story. She dismissed the rumours in strong terms and asked people to stop sharing false information.
“This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh,” she wrote. “I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone.”

Johnny Depp’s representative also issued a statement denying any link. “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever,” the statement said.
It added that Depp had never met or spoken to her. The representative confirmed there were no plans for any collaboration between the actors. The statement described the rumours as baseless and malicious.
Following the statements, there has been no evidence supporting the claims. There is no romantic involvement or professional partnership between Ortega and Depp.
Both parties have been clear and consistent in their denials. The rumours appear to have stemmed solely from online speculation.
Ortega on social media pressure and visibility
Earlier this year, Ortega spoke openly about social media pressures in an interview with Elle Fanning for Variety.
She reflected on the impact of online scrutiny during her early career. Ortega said social media often prioritised numbers and visibility over talent.
She described the environment as difficult for young performers.

“It’s such a comparing game. It influences bandwagon mentality. It’s very manipulative,” she said. “After the show, I’m really nervous to post or even say anything on there or even be myself.”
Ortega explained that constant attention can limit self expression. She said vulnerability is often misunderstood or exploited online.
“They see your vulnerability and twist it in a way that you don’t always expect. It’s so strange,” she added. Ortega became emotional while discussing the subject.
The resurfacing of false rumours appeared to reflect the concerns she described.
With clear denials now issued, Ortega is expected to continue focusing on her acting career.
