Heartbreaking Reason Why Morgan Freeman Was Wearing Glove on Left Hand at Oscars

Morgan Freeman attended the 95th Academy Awards last night, but fans picked up on an unusual part of his outfit as he appeared on stage.

As he took to the stage with Margot Robbie to celebrate 100 years of Warner Brothers Studios, the actor wore an elbow length glove, which left fans questioning if it went beyond a fashion choice.

While many fans didn’t think twice, a handful did take to Twitter to show their concern.

”What was up with the one hand in a black glove? Is Morgan Freeman ok? #Oscars” one fan asked.

”Dang. . Morgan Freeman now looks really old, and what’s going on with his left hand?” said another.

What they didn’t know, is that there’s actually a heartbreaking reason why the actor had to wear the glove at last night’s Oscars.

And it’s all to do with a major car accident that happened in Mississippi in 2008, that has left the actor having to wear a compression glove on his left hand.

At the time of the accident, Freeman had driving when his car left the road, flipping several times before ending up in a ditch not far from his then-home.

A local journalist told the Guardian that paramedics had to use hydraulic cutters to free him from the vehicle, with the actor still conscious and making jokes with rescue workers throughout his ordeal.

Although he would be able to act again, Freeman was left with permanent nerve damage and unbearable shoulder pain, which led to him to wear the compression glove to control the swelling and movement.

Freeman to People magazine in 2010 that his injury has never gotten any better, saying ”If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?”

Fans have been quick to support the actor after finding out the reason behind his glove.

”The man is a LEGEND. He is still feeling that accident years ago,” said one.

”He also has Fibromyalgia which believe me is totally horrendous,” said another.

The Oscars took place on Sunday night (12 March) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and saw huge successes across the board.
