Fans of Billie Eilish have spotted something in one of her friends recent posts that the singer previously promised her followers would “never see.”
She made the remark back in 2019, when she sat down with Vanity Fair, admitting to the outlet she had a secret tattoo.
“I did get a tattoo,” she shared. “But you won’t ever see it.”
Eilish is now one of the brightest new stars in mainstream music. She entered the music industry in 2015 at the age of 21, when she released her debut single, “Ocean Eyes.” This song was the first in a wonderful collaboration between Eilish and her older brother, Finneas O’Connell, who she has collaborated with frequently throughout her career. In fact, her brother co-wrote practically every song in her discography!
But Bad Guy from 2019 is without a doubt the song that actually propelled Eilish into the spotlight. Eilish’s song, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 when she was only seventeen, later won Song and Record of the Year at the 2020 Grammy Awards. She also won record of the Year for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, as well as Best New Artist the same year.
Eilish’s distinctive fashion during her ascent to stardom was another distinguishing aspect of her brand. The performer said it was intentional that she wore solely big and baggy clothing.
“I never want the world to know everything about me,” Billie said back in 2019, per Pop Sugar.
She elaborated: “Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. Nobody can be like, ‘she’s slim-thick,’ ‘she’s not slim-thick,’ ‘she’s got a flat *ss,’ ‘she’s got a fat *ss.’ No one can say any of that because they don’t know.”
Eilish has received criticism for her style change in recent years, which has included more feminine fits.
She wrote on her Instagram stories earlier this year: “I spent the first 5 years of my career getting absolutely OBLITERATED by you fools for being boy ish and dressing how I did & constantly being told I’d be hotter if I acted like a woman.
“And now when I feel comfortable enough to wear anything remotely feminine or fitting, I CHANGED and am a sellout.”
“FUN FACT! did you know that woman are multifaceted!!!!!??? shocking right?? believe it or not women could be interested in multiple things. Also that femininity does not equal weakness???!!!! omg?! insane right? who knew. And also totally unheard of and insane to want to express yourself differently at different times,” she added in subsequent stories, via Pop Buzz.
Given all of this, it makes sense that Eilish believed her admirers would ‘never see’ the disputed tattoo, which is located on her chest.
However, Eilish can be seen reclining back in a Miaou bikini top and Versace sunglasses in a photo posted on Instagram by her friend Annabel Zimmer, giving admirers a glimpse of the tattoo.
As per Rolling Stone, she got the tattoo of her name “in an ornate, gothic font,” the day after the 2020 Grammys.
