Adam Driver Praised For Response To Vile Chris Wallace Question About His Looks

Adam Driver has become the subject of widespread support and admiration for his poised response to what has been labeled a “tasteless” and “cruel” series of questions about his appearance during an interview with journalist Chris Wallace on the Max series, “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace.”

The interview, conducted as part of the promotion for his upcoming film “Ferrari,” took an unexpected turn when Chris, 76, delved into inquiries about Adam’s physical appearance and its impact on his acting career. Referencing comparisons between Adam, 40, and acclaimed actors like Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson, Chris questioned if Adam accepted such comparisons.

In a gracious response, Adam acknowledged the compliment, stating, “That’s very nice. Those are the actors that made me want to be an actor, so that’s a nice comparison.” However, he candidly revealed his approach to such comparisons, explaining, “The New Yorker has also called me a horse-face. So if you believe the good thing, you have to believe the bad thing. So I try to not absorb anything.”

Chris, seizing the moment, pressed on about Adam’s appearance, suggesting he doesn’t fit the mold of a “typical movie star.” Adam, momentarily taken aback, replied, “I’ve worked consistently, which is nice, with people I always dreamed that I wanted to work with. I look how I look. I can’t change that. So, I guess it helped me,” injecting a touch of humor with a quip about his appearance.

Undeterred, Chris continued his line of questioning, insinuating that Adam might have contemplated if his career would be easier if he resembled Robert Redford. Displaying a photo of Redford next to Adam, Chris probed further.

Adam, maintaining composure, responded, “Yeah, but it would just be different. I would be giving something off. Maybe I’m trying to be diplomatic. And I guess if I was alone in a room, I’m like, Who Doesn’t want to look like Robert Redford? I just kind of accepted this is how I look.”

Following the interview’s circulation on social media, criticism was directed at Chris for his probing and perceived insensitivity. Internet users denounced the line of questioning as “incredibly rude” and “mean for no reason.” Adam, on the other hand, received praise for his composed handling of the situation, with many commending his healthy mindset and expressing sympathy for having to navigate such queries.

In an era where discussions about physical appearance and perceived attraction are increasingly recognized as subjective and potentially harmful, Adam Driver’s dignified response stands out as a testament to self-acceptance and resilience in the face of unwarranted scrutiny.
